Terry Tyree – Albemarle/Charlottesville Chapter

Terry has been a member of and fellow with the Albemarle/Charlottesville Chapter since June. She immediately got involved with chapter events, meetings, and attended the 30th Anniversary Grassroots Gathering in September. 

Terry has also participated in community outreach activities, like tabling and other chapter activities. Most notably, Terry took the lead in organizing the chapter’s Medicaid/Medicare 60th anniversary celebration action over the summer.

When asked about her time so far with Virginia Organizing, she shared: “Virginia Organizing has helped come out of my cocoon and spread my wings to become the beautiful butterfly that I didn’t really know that I was. They have helped me to shine so brightly in the community, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with them through this fellowship.”

She also said that there is “a genuine authenticity that they bring to the community. People don’t know how hard Virginia Organizing is working to put forth the effort to make change. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it.”

Moreover, she praised the unity and determination of her fellow chapter members, and shared her excitement for continuing the work that they are doing together.
