Megan Shepherd – New River Valley Chapter
Megan has been an active member of the New River Valley Chapter for eight years. She was instrumental in the success of the chapter’s school-to-prison pipeline campaigns and has worked diligently on its housing campaign. She also played a key role in coordinating the chapter’s Know Your Rights Housing Forum.
Megan regularly canvasses with the NRV Chapter’s outreach team, writes letters to the editor, attends local and statewide events, and has spoken at School Board and Board of Supervisors meetings.
Most recently, Megan took the lead in planning the chapter’s fall fundraiser—an Adult Field Day for the community to enjoy. She led a fundraising team of six members, facilitating bi-weekly meetings for the past four months. Her leadership ensured a fun, engaging, and problem-free event day.
“Megan has been an extraordinarily vital member of the NRV chapter and has shown an incredible commitment to our work,” said Brandy Faulkner, Virginia Organizing State Governing Board member and New River Valley Chapter leader.
