Waynesboro, Va. – Last July, U.S. Rep. Ben Cline (CD-6) voted to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA), legislation that cuts funding to Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP while tripling ICE’s budget. The impending impact of these cuts on local institutions and constituents has enraged the residents of Waynesboro, who believe that cuts to federal funding will only make it harder for low-income residents in Waynesboro.
For this reason, residents of Waynesboro will gather on Wednesday, October 29 at 6 p.m at Christ Tabernacle Church of Christ to share stories about how they’ve been impacted by federal cuts to social services. Community leaders, Sharon Coplai from Renewing Homes for Greater Augusta, Kathryn Brown from the Waynesboro Education Association, and Jacie Grant, a local constituent, will speak on cuts from the Big Beautiful Bill’s impact to their organizations and the broader Waynesboro community. They are also calling for Augusta Health to reverse their recent decision to terminate enrollment of children currently utilizing the Childcare Learning Center.
This is to be the first of many community listening sessions that will continue as Waynesboro constituents continue to be impacted by federal cuts to social services.
