Williamsburg, Va. – Last Tuesday, July 29, a beloved member of the immigrant community in Williamsburg was detained without due process. He was a landscaper, supporting five kids, and was very involved in his faith community. He has always been friendly to the residents of Williamsburg. This raid, as well as several that have been reported since then, have enraged the residents of Williamsburg who believe that immigrants are a vital and welcome part of our community.

For this reason, residents of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County, will gather on Thursday at the site of the detainment to protest the ongoing ICE activity in the region. Community leaders will speak about the detainee, Marvin, and as a community, we will tell ICE that we don’t want them here.

This is to be the first of many protests that will continue if ICE activity continues.
